RCB to launch Rs 24.8 million projects soon

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) will launch 16 development projects costing Rs 24.8 million within few days and six projects costing Rs 22.2 million by the end of November, a senior official of the RCB told Daily Times on Monday.

He said the RCB had completed Rs 80 million projects including water supply schemes, construction of roads and streets in different parts of the cantonment in the current year. He said the board was focusing on less developed areas to provide better civic facilities to the residents.

He said the new projects to be started within few days included improvement of link roads of Lane No 4 Peshawar Road with drainage structure at a cost of Rs 2.2 million, improvement of Zakria Road at a cost of Rs 2 million, improvement of Aibek Road at a cost of Rs 800,000, improvement of Nagi Road at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, improvement of civic facilities in Miran Bukhsh Colony at a cost of Rs 1.2 million, re-carpeting of Lane No 7 Peshawar Road at a cost of Rs 1.8 million, construction of street and improvement of drain in Lane No 6 Allahabad at a cost of Rs 1.8 million, construction of streets with drainage structure in Officers Colony, Misrial Road, at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, construction of street No 46 and link streets of Allama Iqbal Colony at a cost of Rs 2.7 million, improvement of street with drainage system in Madni Mohallah at a cost of Rs 4.2 million, construction of street No 17 with drain in Dhoke Banaras at a cost of Rs 859,000, construction of street No 22 with drain Naseerabad at a cost of Rs 751,000 and construction of streets and improvement of drainage system in Azizabad at a cost of Rs 3.5 million.

The official said the RCB would launch six more projects by the end of November. These projects include construction of streets in the Cantt View Colony at a cost of Rs 246,000, improvement of street No 55-A, Allama Iqbal Colony at a cost of Rs 385,000, improvement of Abid Majeed Road at a cost of Rs 5.1 million, re-carpeting of main Tench Bhatta Road at a cost of Rs 5.96 million, reconstruction of streets at Shabir Lane (Peshawar Road) at a cost of Rs 3.5 million and improvement of Range Road, Westridge at a cost of Rs 7 million.

He said the RCB would also replace and relocate old and rusty water supply pipelines. He said Rs 2.1 million would be spent on the replacement of water supply pipeline along Kumhar Road, Gwalmandi, while Rs 1.7 million would be spent on replacement of water supply pipeline along Siham Road.
