|
PHA to build 37,000 residential apartments
ISLAMABAD, Mar 24 (APP): Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) is all set to build 37,000 residential apartments to provide shelter to low-paid employees of the federal government.
PHA, in this regard, has launched a new housing scheme here on Monday which was inaugurated by Caretaker Minister for Housing and Works Nasir Muhammad Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government wants to facilitate the low-paid employees all across the country.
He said that under the new housing scheme, 500 “C” type apartments will be built on ownership for low-paid government employees.
Nasir Khan said the Housing Ministry has made its utmost efforts to initiate new schemes to meet the shortage of housing in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Housing and Works, Abdur Rauf Chaudhry said the government has directed PHA for construction of 37,000 apartments for the federal government employees in the country.
Abdur Rauf said that 500 “C” type apartments will be constructed on ownership basis where a community centre and other facilities will also be available.
He said that similar housing scheme, for officers of the federal government, will also be launched in Islamabad on ownership basis soon.
Earlier, Managing Director PHA, Samiullah Haq Khiljee briefed the Minister about construction of 500 apartments in G-11/3, duration, total estimated cost, allocation of land by the Capital Development Authority for the housing scheme.
Director General, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation, Shahid Hamid, Director General NHA, Talat Mian and other senior officials of the Ministry were also present on the occasion.
