ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allocated Rs 160 million for the construction of Khayaban-e-Iqabl Road from Sector F-5 to Bari Imam. A senior CDA official told Daily Times on Monday that work on the construction of the road will start next month. He said the CDA was also planning to construct a number of other roads including the 7th Avenue from Sharah-e-Suharwardy to Garden Road. Two underpasses, one each at Shara-e-Suharwardy and Kashmir Highway, will also be constructed, the official said, adding that the CDA would start work on the 6th Avenue from the Murree Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal and the 11th Avenue from IJ Principal Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal in current financial year.
Moreover, he said five underpasses on the 11th Avenue will also be built. In the first phase the CDA will construct a new avenue at a cost of Rs 17 million from Khayaban-e-Iqbal to the Kashmir Highway, he said. The official said the authority had so far constructed six avenues including 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and first phase of the 9th Avenue in the federal capital. In addition to these projects, the CDA has also prepared the PC-2 to widen the Jinnah Avenue. “The civic body will also start construction work on the much-awaited Zero Point interchange in the current year. The design of the project, prepared by M/S ECIL, has been approved by the CDA board’s planning commission,” he said, adding that there would be no traffic signals on the interchange. It is worth mentioning that the design of the recently collapsed by-pass in Karachi was also prepared
