RAWALPINDI - Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Bodies Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that Punjab Chief Minister Ch. Parvez Elahi has given approval to the master plan of the journalists colony at Lohi Bher and in next fortnight he will lay-down the foundation stone of the project.

Raja expressed these remarks during his visit of Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club and meeting with the RIPC office-bearers lead by its Secretary Muhammad Afzal Butt here on Sunday afternoon.

The minister said that the chief minister has given approval to the layout of society and given approval to the best layout plan presented to him.

He also assured the journalists that as soon as the building plan for the renovation and refurbishing of the Press Club building would be initiated as the architect completes his work and added that the chief minister would be inaugurating the work along with laying down of foundation stone of the housing society.

About the grant of Rs. 24 lakh announced by the chief minister for RIPC, Raja said that the cheque would be handed over to the RIPC body by the end of next week.

He said that they had provided record development funds for Rawalpindi and so far they had spent Rs. six billion and more projects were in the pipeline.

Referring to the parking problem in the city, he said that they would soon be constructing parking plazas in the city limits so that the problem would be resolved once for all.

He further said that they would also be introducing the new traffic policing in the big cities of the province and initially they have selected five districts in which new system would be introduced. Courtesy the Nation
