I-16 allottees get land possession after 16 years
ISLAMABAD: After the passage of about 16 years, the Capital Development Authority has handed over the possession of plots to the allottees of sector I-16, as the development of the residential sector is almost complete.
A ceremony for distribution of allotment letters was held Saturday and Chairman Senate Sub-Committee for Government Assurance Senator Chaudhry Anwar Bhinder distributed allotment letters among 11 allottees.
The residential sector was launched in 1992, but the disputes of compensation and the acquisition of land halted the development process of the sector. After hectic efforts, the authority announced the award of the land for disputed service roads in 1995, while the matter regarding the compensation is still unresolved.
Asad Munir, member Estate Management of the authority said two sub-sectors including I-16/1 and I-16/4 had been developed while the development of the rest of two sub sectors would be completed after the settlement of dispute on the land of service roads
"The service roads of North and South would be completed by April," he hoped.
He said some 3,000 people had been allotted residential plots in the sector.
Munir said the authority had allocated 32 acres for setting up of a grid station as the sector had not been provided the power as well as the gas supply.
The gas supply network has reached sector I-14 it would be provided to I-16 shortly.

Anwar Bhiner hailed the performance of the authority for completing the development work as per deadline and resolving the long-standing dispute
The ceremony was also attended by Senator Professor Sajid Mir, Senator Liaqat Ali Bangalzai, Member Engineering CDA Moinuddin Kakakhel and Director Roads Anwar Ali Gopang
H-12 land handed over to Nust: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully completed the vacation of sector H-12 and all the affectees have been granted compensation as per rules prescribed by the authority. "The land or sector H-12 has also been vacated and handed over to National University of Science and Technology," said a spokesman of the authority Saturday
The spokesman said the vacation of sector H-10 has also been completed successfully and the land has been handed over to International Islamic University, Islamabad.
He said the authority had compensated all the affectees in Landa Mastaal village and the construction activity by the university had also been started there.
He contradicted the news item appeared in a section of press saying that an inquiry has been ordered into a land scam regarding the vacation of sector H-12.
He said the authority has allotted no land to International Islamic University in this sector as stated in the news item rather it has been allocated to Nust.
The spokesperson said no fresh award regarding the acquisition of Pind Sangral in sector D-12 has yet been announced by the deputy commissioner and negotiation with the affectees were underway.
He hoped that the compensation matter would be finalised shortly after both the parties unanimously agreed to terms and conditions.
CDA homework for development in I-15 almost complete: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed homework to start development work in newly opened Sector I-15. The development work will start from the first week of April in Sector I-15, which was launched for low-income people.
The CDA would invite the tender from development firms for development work next month, sources said. The infrastructural development of the sector will be completed by April 2010, while construction of 8,000 flats will start in October. On the other hand, the development work in Sector D-12 would be completed by June 30. The allottees would get possession in July.
