The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has invited national and international firms for the construction of multi-storey 8,000 residential apartments in I-15 sector, a CDA official said Saturday.
"Expressions of interest have been invited from national and international developers and firms for the design and construction of multi-storey flats.
These flats would be seismic proof as Islamabad is situated in an active earthquake zone," he said, adding about 16 firms including three international from United Kingdom, China and Malaysia have been short listed for the development work in sector I-15.
The construction work would be initiated immediately after preparation of layout plan of residential apartments and the flats to be completed within the stipulated time, the official said.
He said the sector would have 17 parks and playgrounds, nine mosques, two colleges, seven secondary schools, 10 primary schools and nine shopping centres.
Under the revised plan, 13,700 housing units including 5,560 plots of 5, 6 and 7.2 Marlas, 8,000 flats and 200 small houses would be built in I-15. As many as 200 small houses would also be constructed to provide shelter to poor labourers in Islamabad, he said. The I-15 sector is being developed on quota system for low paid people having annual income not exceeding Rs 150,000.
