| Construction of I-15 flats to start by year end |
|
ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would start construction of residential flats in the Sector I-15 by the end of this year after the short-listing the interested firms is completed.<br>The Authority has planned to construct 8,000 condominium-styled housing units in the sector but the project got late due to the delay in the short-listing of construction firms.
“The construction of residential flats would be started by the end of this year and the project would take another two years for completion,” said Member Planning CDA Brigadier Nusratullah here Wednesday.
He said the short-listing of the construction firms is in final stage and the process would be finalised within a couple of weeks.
He said at the moment, the names of more or less six companies are under discussion and all of them would give a detailed presentation to the Authority next week. He said among the companies whose names are worthwhile for the execution of the project belong to Iran, a consortium of UK and Spain companies, two from Pakistan and others.
After completion of the project, the complex would be like a mini city, which would be provided every facility including state-of-the-art bus terminal, hospital and playgrounds.
The minimum number of stories of the building would be ground plus three while the maximum number would be nine, Member Planning said. Increase in the number of stories would spare the space for the development of recreational and other facilities, he added.
“The variation in the number of stories is meant for the beauty as well as to ensure proper ventilation,” he said. The Authority has allocated the area of about 180 acres for the construction of these flats adding that each flat would be measured up to 1,300 sq feet.
Brigadier Nusratullah said once the construction activity starts, it would make up all the delay caused due to one or the other reason.
“The construction of flats would be made on war footing and would be completed within two-year time,” Member Planning said.
Regarding the development of the overall development of the sector, he said it has been started and would be completed within three years.
