CDA to develop another mini food market in Islamabad
Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) has come up with yet another innovative idea of developing a mini food market and beautifying its surrounding.
Following directives by Kamran Lashari, the Environment Wing has entrusted the task to Directorate of Parks to renovate an old market in Sector F-7/3, which is commonly called ‘Gole Market’ and beautify its surroundings with soft and hard landscaping.
The premises of the market located on street 8, have around 10 food outlets that include the first-ever Chinese restaurant in the federal capital.
Director Parks of the CDA, Malik Abid, said a PC-1 of Rs57 million project and its design have been finalised and development work has already been started.
The idea behind the project is to provide people of Islamabad a sit-out area where they could enjoy with various kinds of food in the open air. The parking area near the market has been shifted to the other side where a space for 250 cars land has been created.
The official said that sit-out area would be developed by arranging benches in place of previous parking area along with a theatre for attraction of visitors. Special counters would also be prepared for eaters near the food outlets.
The project would also include a mini golf course at an open space adjacent to the market over an area of four kanals. The golf course would be developed by CDA at its own expenses but would be run by a private company following an open competition among desiring parties.
“We are also taking stakeholders including people of area and other citizens into confidence on the projects for which consultation process has been started,” he said.
The CDA has asked the citizens to contact Member Environment Mazhar Hussain (0333-5229777) and Director Parks Malik Abid (0333-5142111) if they want to give proposal regarding the project.
