CDA to take possession of Service Road next week
As the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is preparing to start development work in Sector I-15, the authority would take physical possession of 12-kilometre Service Road from next week.
The CDA sources said the authority’s Land Directorate has reached an agreement with affected people of Service Road (South), which passes through sectors I-14, I-15 and I-16.
The CDA management on Tuesday approved 180 review cases of affected people increasing the total number of affectees to 1414 (Fourteen hundred and fourteen).
All the affected people having Built up Property (BuP) would be allotted alternate plots in Sector I-14
Director Land and Rehabilitation Chaudhry Asadullah
Faiz when contacted told
‘The News’ that demolition of BuP structure and physical possession of land on right of way of Service Road would start in a week time
Meanwhile, start of development work at Sector I-15 had been delayed for another month as authority had raised some objections on design provided by the consultant. “The development activity which was expected to begin in mid of April will now start by end of May,” the CDA sources said.
A CDA official said that
they would float tenders for award of contract work by end of April on finalization of detailed design of the civil work to be undertaken.
However, there was no immediate chance of start of work on construction of 8,000 residential flats as the CDA is yet to
select a designing consultant for the project.
The sources said that four international consultant firms recently gave a presentation to officials of Planning and Design Wing but no final decision has been taken.
The Sector I-15 for low-income people was launched nearly three years back but so far no development had been undertaken.
A construction firm owned by brother of a federal minister in Shaukat Aziz cabinet was awarded contract of civil work but after wasting almost one year, the company left the project without making even an initial progress.
